1. LaserWay Launch
Last January, the launching meeting of the European Laserway project took place in Elgoibar (Guipúzcoa) with the participation of all the partners involved
Recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have increased global uncertainty and led many European companies to rethink their global supply chain and production methods. Given the possibility of possible and unpredictable new disruptions, it is crucial for European industry to achieve a high degree of flexibility and adaptability that allows it to respond quickly to sudden changes, whenever they occur. Through the development of innovative and sustainable extremely high-speed laser processes – such as laser cutting, laser microdrilling and laser material deposition (EHLA) – the LaserWay project will succeed in revolutionizing the manufacturing industry. These innovations will make it possible to replace obsolete, inefficient, rigid and environmentally harmful conventional methods by implementing highly flexible production lines based on high-speed laser technology
2. Objectives
With a focus on increasing productivity and efficiency, the project aims to provide a more sustainable alternative that will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and ultimately enable a cleaner, greener future for everyone. To this end, LaserWay will double the productivity of the laser process while providing highly accurate photon distribution in the right place at the right time. The success of the project will provide a competitive advantage for industries such as water treatment, automotive and aerospace by reducing processing times, improving materials usage and improving the quality of the final product. The advances achieved through the LaserWay project will drive innovation in high-speed laser processing, consolidating Europe's position as a world leader in advanced manufacturing technologies
