The company is aproducer of organic and conventional raisins highest quality, for export worldwide and also domestically in South Africa, either in bulk or retail.

Located along the Orange River in the Northern Cape, it is the leading organic producer in South Africa. All farms under management are 100% certified organic and produce only organic produce.

The company was founded in 2006 and can process up to 25,000 tons of organic and conventional raisins per year.

The challenge

The Northen Cape province is a very dry area, where the main source of water comes from the Orange River. The Orange River has very loaded water that can change a lot from the dry season to the wet season (summer). Especially during the summer, the water quality is very poor, with a large amount of suspended solids in a very wide range of sizes.

This condition, together with the intense solar radiation on the site, generates water that is very difficult to filter and has a very High clogging potential for the Micro-sprinklers.

In this case, the client has a pond where the water is stored. The only problem with the pond is the proliferation of organic matter due to the high radiation and the type of water.

Another problem we face in this case is the drainage collector. Since water is a very valuable resource in this area, the customer wants to send the backwash water to the storage pond.

This point makes us send the water about 7 m upstream and about 50 m away, which increases the pressure in the drainage manifold, during backwashing, up to 1 bar (approx.). But the customer wants to work at the lowest possible pressure, in order toreducing Energy Consumption and also to have asizing of smaller and more economical pumps.

A very robust system capable of treating heavily loaded water and performing a correct backwash even if the differential pressure between the Outlet manifold and the drain manifold is not too large.
