Development Of A Production System Adapted To Protected Crops. Exp-00091737 / Itc-20161280.
Underground Drip Irrigation (URI) is a highly efficient irrigation technique that allows the localised delivery of water and nutrients to the plant at exactly the point of maximum utilisation: below the soil surface. In this way, crop growth is optimised while water, energy and fertiliser are applied as rationally as possible.
The benefits of this irrigation technique are precisely due to the fact that the nutrient solution is applied directly to the root system; the surface wet area in the soil is eliminated; and, thanks to the underground installation, the presence of irrigation system components on the surface is avoided. This translates into multiple advantages that result in significant economic impacts that are always favourable for the farm, making the RGS the best alternative at an economic, agronomic and ecological level.
However, in order to make the most of all its advantages, it is important to master the specific design and installation criteria for these irrigation systems. Knowing them and applying them correctly during the agronomic design of the installation is essential.
AZUD is working, throughout the SUDIPRO project, on the development of a digital tool to transfer its expertise in the precise design of RGS systems. Thanks to this tool, any user with a technical profile will be able to have at their disposal, in a simple, accessible and intuitive way, AZUD’s extensive experience together with the latest scientific knowledge based on rigorous, objective and validated criteria.
With this initiative, AZUD is committed to leading a radical transformation of water application systems by promoting the use of the most efficient irrigation techniques to guarantee smarter and more circular water management.
